About:

Hi! I’m Renée.

As someone with a variety of interests and hobbies, creating an “about me” page has proved to be extremely challenging. Should I share fun facts about myself? No, thats boring. Should I share my life’s regrets? My biggest hopes? My dreams and goals I’ve never said out loud? I’ll save it for our conversation in person. Instead, I’d like to share some of my favorite books. Hopefully, you’ll learn a little more about me (or it just might inspire you to visit your local library).

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is my favorite book of all time. I’ve read this book more than 6 times and I constantly feel compelled to pick it up again and again. The four agreements, which are based on ancient Toltec wisdom, now guide my life and the decisions I make every day.

Jurassic Park + The Lost World by Michael Crichton were books that ignited a spark inside me to read more fiction. Despite my reluctance to read anything other than a self-help book, I literally could not put either of these books down once I started reading. These beautifully written, engaging stories not only take you to an island full of dinosaurs, but comment critically on the role of humans and our impact on the world’s natural ecosystem. I recommend these books for anyone in a reading slump, and who need to pick up a good book.

Wicked by Gregory Maguire is a book that I was physically drawn to because of the bright green pages that called out to me at my local library book sale. The topics that this version of the story touches on, like prejudice and and social injustice, add depth to an already interesting story about overcoming fear and doing what’s right in your heart. Unlike the play and movie, this book is not for kids!
